The Free The Way Team
Free the Way was started by a group of concerned parents and carers who felt that they could not get the help they needed to deal with alcohol and substance misuse here in East Durham. It is staffed by some of those same people who have since undergone extensive training in order to offer a professional service to those who need help.
Free The Way is made up of Trustees, Staff and Volunteers. Free The Way continues to co-opt other members. Members have included the current Mayor of Seaham Charles Walker, District Councillor and members of the local police and anyone who feels they can make a valid contribution to the organisation.
All Trustees, Staff and volunteers have undergone the following training in order to offer a more professional service:
- Drugs Awareness for Parents and Carers Level 1
- Drugs Awareness for Parents and Carers Level 2
- Health & Safety Course
- Child Protection Course
- Food and Hygiene Course
- Counselling Course
- Engaging Skills Course
- Community Enterprise Management Course Level 1
- Confidentiality Course
Since its opening Free The Way has gone from strength of strength and is a shining example of what can be achieved when local people get together with a common aim and the powers that be listen to them and help with realise it.
