Projects At Free The Way

A Supported Housing Project

Free The Way has been working with Easington Council and has proposed that a joint supported housing project would go someway in alleviating homelessness amoung young substance misusers in Easington and surrounding areas.
This is planned for 2006.

A Mentoring Scheme at Free the Way

This scheme would assist substance misusers integrating into society and help them to become responsible, productive members of the community.
It would also provide jobs for recovering substance misusers whose greatest resource is their own experience and help them pass on their hard won experiences to others who are still actively using.
They will lead by example, establishing trust and be able to give practical advice to others like them.

A Family Outreach Worker

Free The Way has always wanted a Family Outreach Worker based at the Centre and has provided the office facilities for such a position. The post will be funded by Easington PCT and managed by County Durham DAAT.

Free the Way continues to develop the training aspect of the centre in providing more courses, which to date have been funded by County Durham DAAT, centred on substance misuse and with the help of it partners like community Enterprise Direct we hope to extend and expand them.
It also hopes to deliver courses on assertiveness training, confidence building, interview techniques and other educational or work related courses for its client base.
